I recently had the chance to interview a charismatic upcoming artist from New Haven, Connecticut.
Fitzgerald is an intrinsic artist on the rise. As a child he knew being a musician was his destiny. "I’ve always been into the arts, when I was in diapers I’d be dancing all over the place." He recollected. The 23 year-old made the move to Atlanta a few years back where he briefly attended Morehouse and began forging his musical journey.
I was able to preview some new music and a visual from Fitz and I am absolutely in love with the melodies. CaliforniaKingDreamin' and Thinking About You are both personal inquisitions for a good time of lust, maybe even love. However, the two tunes differentiate as Thinking About You is more about infatuation and CaliforniaKingDreamin' is a memory of love, the wish to return to it and a potential future.
Of course I had to see if a special someone inspired these songs. "I am currently single like a dollar bill! “Thinking About You” was inspired by someone I am currently chatting with but it’s nothing deep as of now." He explained. So, lucky for anyone who's interested, Fitz is still on the market. The soulful songwriter says: "I write from a very fluid standpoint. When I say that, I mean I want my music to be for both him and her. Life is a general experience and my music reflects as such. I write for those who can identify with self-acknowledgement and accepting their actions right or wrong." He makes it easy for a true R&B lover to get lost in his music.
The fashion forward singer has a unique look to fit his standout sound. Fitzgerald attributes Pharrell Williams for his style inspo.
R&B's contending front runner has been influenced by Pharrell, 3 Stacks, Carl Thomas, Frank Ocean, and Eric Bellinger. Fitz aspires to become a mogul and share his talents with the with the world.
