Dope Fashion! Classik (@thatsCLASSIK): Spread Good, Be Good

Atlanta brand Classik has been giving the indie fashion a delightful artistic flare to what I’d like to proclaim as The T-Shirt Era. Founder, graphic artist, George F Baker III, and creative director, Marty McNasty, have created a brand turned movement promoting Classik's motto, “Spread Good and Be Good”. With positivity being the driving point of Classik after talking with George and I can definitely understand the origins because both of these guys are extremely humble and give off great vibes. Each having very mellow 90s influenced styles, Classik fits these guys perfectly. When you look at the collections from Classik the color blocking takes you somewhere in the past filled with people sporting Nylon sweatsuits and Bugle Boy jeans, that would pair perfectly with these shirts and hoodies.

Approaching Classik’s 2-year Anniversary they prepare their “Season 5” Spring Collection debuting on July 4th. On that day in 2012, graphic designer George F. Baker III took his art form and turned it into wearable artwork, expanding his medium on a much more vast platform. George has been putting out classics like his favorite design, the "Pounds" t-shirt. Within his designs you can see the influence of one of his favorite artist, Keith Haring, who Baker visibly adapted his style from. Haring and Baker are similar in the way that they promote encouraging messages through their works.

"Spread Good, Be Good"

Classik has been a one man show until recently, we have Mr. Baker to thank for Classik's foundations. George brought on Marty to create something timeless. With the dynamic creativity these two possess, they have also put a different spin to their marketing and branding. The product images on ThatsClassik.com feature brightly colored cartoon versions of their designs and models. The mixed media aspect is alluring as far as the artistic vision goes. But Classik does not stop at clothing. Along with the help of Atlanta producer Wino Willy, Classik reached out to rappers of Atlanta and created their first compilation mixtape entitled, “Been Good” Vol. 1. Artist features include Plewto Smith, Miles Stone and Zip Kennedy. In addition to the mixtape, Classik put on the first solo art show for creative director, Marty McNasty. The night was themed “Lost My Mind” showcasing artwork that can be viewed and bought at MartyMcNasty.com .

In effort to create something timeless, George F. Baker III and Classik has presented us with a brand that will surely withstand The T-Shirt Era. You can find more info on the brand and ways to purchase at ThatsClassik.com and on their Twitter @ThatsClassik.
