Instagram Adds Videos

Instagram has added video! The photo sharing application is keeping up with the Vine wave, by adding video capabilities to the popular application. On Thursday, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom confirmed the rumors to an audience in San Francisco. He described it as "everything you love about Instagram -- and it moves". Instagram the video capabilities to the application based on three core principles.

  1. Simplicity - easy to use and edit
  2. Beauty - to do to videos that can be done to photos
  3. Community - the ability to share and view contents to a range of users
The videos are limited to 15 seconds, unlike Vine's 6 second limit. The update launches today on both iPhone and Android phones and comes equipped with 13 new filters. It also allows for editing and customization by adding borders and cutting out segments. Instagram has also added the feature called "Cinema" in order to stabilize the footage. Users can also include a cover photo so that the image is seen on the timeline.
